Gubbio, in Umbria, is reached by car along the E45 and follow signs for Gubbio.
The central monument of Gubbio is the Palazzo dei Consoli, which was built in the XIV century by the city government, which in this way wanted to witness the greatness and the power obtained from the city. The palace, in the Gothic style, is about sixty meters high. Since 1901 it houses the Museo Civico, where they are exposed ancient Umbrian archaeological, numismatic collection and an art gallery.
Other attractions in town are the Diocesan Museum, the Museum of the Church of Santa Maria Nuova, a collection of art in the San Francesco convent, the Museo della Torre di Porta Romana, the city gate and the Roman Theater.
The army of Gubbio resided in the Cassero. This triangular structure is spread over three rows of burrows of which is underground, provided with slits on both sides. In the path of the tunnels every 5 meters you can find the holes (on the walls, ground and ceiling), which were used to communicate. From cassero other passages started ,using secret ancient streets and joined along the whole city.
Jewel of Umbria, Gubbio can also be discovered walking along the streets and stopping in one of the charming bars and restaurants.
