A few steps from the square, going through no small number of lanes, you will reach the Duomo: The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, built in Romanesque-Gothic style, is one of the most significant and beautiful churches in Italy made in this style. According to tradition the cathedral was consecrated on 18 November 1179.
